此前有消息称，Google 将推出带有 Google TV 的更便宜版 Chromecast 电视棒。现在，Chromecast HD 曝光了，售价预计约为 30 美元（约RM135）
开发者 Kuba Wojciechowski 声称获得了 Chromecast HD 的参数，搭载晶晨半导体 Amlogic S805X2 处理器，支持 AV1 解码，但视频输出限制为 1080p，相比之前的 4K 版本有所降级。

The device has 1.5GB of ram, compared to 2GB on the 4K model. While this will probably not affect performance much, it might mean that the device will never get A13, as Google has recently raised the requirement to 2GB (it might not affect ATV devices though). pic.twitter.com/MTq2qugb8r

此外，Chromecast HD 将搭载基于 Android 12 的软件，使其成为了第一个 Google TV 12 流媒体。该设备还将支持带有压缩的虚拟 A / B 无缝更新，也就是可在更新 A 系统时使用 B 系统，更新完成后直接切换到 A 系统，而且可以略过下载更新到存储这一步。
